Cookies
Cookie Policy
The cookies and similar storage that emotionalcenter.org uses, what each one does, and how to change your choices. Last updated October 2026.
What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Websites also use similar storage, such as local storage. In this policy, “cookies” covers both.
We set some cookies ourselves. Others are set by services we use, such as Google, Stripe and Book Like a Boss.
How We Ask
In the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies stay off until you choose Accept. You can also choose Reject, or pick each type with Choices.
Everywhere else, analytics and advertising cookies are on by default, and a notice at the bottom of the page tells you so. You can turn them off at any time with Your Privacy Choices.
If we cannot tell where you are, we ask first, as we do for the United Kingdom.
Strictly necessary cookies are always on, because the site needs them to work.
Strictly Necessary
Stripe sets its cookies only on the checkout pages, when the payment form loads.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| consent (local storage) | This site | Remembers your cookie choice. | We ask again after 12 months |
| __stripe_mid | Stripe | Prevents fraud during checkout. | 1 year |
| __stripe_sid | Stripe | Prevents fraud during checkout. | 30 minutes |
Analytics
Google Analytics tells us how many people visit, which pages they read and how they reached the site. It uses a random ID, not your name.
OP Dynamics (opdynamics.org) and the Center for Emotional Development (emotionalcenter.org) share one Google Analytics property. When you follow a link from one site to the other, Google Analytics adds a short code (_gl) to the address, so it counts both as one visit.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells one visitor from another with a random ID. | 2 years |
| _ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | Keeps track of your visit. | 2 years |
Advertising
Google Ads tells us whether an ad led to an enquiry or purchase, and lets us show our ads to people who have visited the site. Google also uses its own cookies on google.com and doubleclick.net to show and measure ads. Google’s privacy policy describes them.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Links an ad click to a later enquiry or purchase (conversion linker). | 90 days |
Booking Calendar and Video
The booking calendar on the Schedule a Conversation page comes from Book Like a Boss (bookme.name). It loads with that page and sets two cookies that the calendar needs to work. No other page sets them.
Videos on this site play from our own server, not from YouTube or Vimeo, so they set no cookies.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| XSRF-TOKEN | Book Like a Boss (bookme.name), on the Schedule a Conversation page | A security token that protects the booking form from forged requests. | 2 days |
| book_like_a_boss_session | Book Like a Boss (bookme.name), on the Schedule a Conversation page | Keeps your booking session while you choose a time. | 2 days |
Your Privacy Choices
Use Your Privacy Choices at the bottom of any page. It opens a panel where you can turn Analytics and Advertising on or off. Your choice applies at once and is saved in this browser. If you clear your browser storage, or after 12 months, we ask again.
Turning off Advertising opts you out of the “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law, and of targeted advertising under other US state laws.
Your choice applies to this site. The other site asks for its own.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising. Advertising cookies stay off in that browser, and the choices panel shows “GPC signal detected — honored”. Analytics follows the rule for your region.
Blocking Cookies in Your Browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Look for “Privacy” or “Cookies”. If you block strictly necessary cookies, checkout may not work.
Google offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics on every site (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). You can control the ads Google shows you in My Ad Center (myadcenter.google.com).
Changes and Contact
If we change the cookies we use, we update this page and the date at the top. Questions go to info@emotionalcenter.org.
